The best credit cards for buying groups in 2026.
Six cards that make sense if you're running 5-figure+ monthly buys — ranked by effective return, not marketing copy.
By RetailWorld team
Every reseller eventually realizes the 2% flat card that served them well at $5k/mo is costing them real money at $50k/mo. When your buy volume scales, category multipliers, bonused merchants, and SUBs become the difference between a good month and a spectacular one.
How we ranked
- Base return on Best Buy / Target / retailer-agnostic spend.
- Category and portal multipliers that stack.
- Signup bonus value amortized over minimum spend.
- Annual fee drag and breakeven threshold.
1. Chase Ink Business Preferred
Still the single best card to open for most resellers. The 100k–120k UR SUB is worth $1,200–$2,400 on Chase travel, and the $8,000 minimum spend is a rounding error on any serious buying month. 3x on online advertising, shipping, internet, and phone — none of which directly help buy-group spend — but the SUB alone pays the card for a decade.
When to open
Before you hit 5/24. Chase Ink cards don't show up on personal credit reports but they do count against your 5/24 bucket, so sequence carefully.
2. Citi Double Cash + Citi Custom Cash combo
The single best flat-rate play. 2% everywhere via Double Cash, 5% on the top category each month via Custom Cash (up to $500 spend). Redeem together as ThankYou points and the effective value floats up past 2.5% with Citi Premier.
3. Amex Business Platinum
If you regularly buy at Dell, that's 2x MR for your first $2,000 every quarter — and MR has travel redemptions in the 1.5–2cpp range. The $695 fee is real, but between the SUB (170k+ typical), $200 airline credit, and $400 Dell credit, it pencils out for most resellers doing six figures a year.
4. US Bank Smartly Visa Signature
Up to 4% on everything if you hold $100k across eligible USB accounts. It's a steep requirement, but if you park meaningful idle balance anywhere, this is the cleanest 'no category, no limit' card on the market.
5. Amex Blue Business Plus
2x MR on the first $50k of spend per year. No annual fee. Every reseller should have one sitting in the rotation — it's the quietest high-floor card in the market.
6. Capital One Venture X Business
2x Venture miles everywhere, bonus categories at 5–10x through the Capital One portal, and a $300 annual travel credit. The transfer partners got significantly better in 2025, making Venture miles worth ~1.7cpp for most reseller travel profiles.
